6th GRADE

The 6th grade Cadet Band will eventually be divided into two classes: Woodwinds and Brass/Percussion. Successful completion of beginning band is a prerequisite, with the exception of percussion. This class continues the development of instrumental and music reading skills while introducing more sophisticated elements of music and expanding vocabulary. Increased opportunities for performance are offered that may include various in-school performances as well as various evening performances. Repertoire is expanded to include full band arrangements. Conducting, tuning, and instrument maintenance are among the additional subjects introduced in this class. Beginning percussionists will be required to attend 3 after-school sessions at the beginning of the school year to be a member of the cadet band.
