State funds earmarked for students who are experiencing difficulties either in the affective and/or academic areas are being used in Van Dyke to deliver services to students in several areas.  Services are designed to meet individual needs.

The elementary level personnel costs are paid for media/computer lab personnel.  In addition to software, supplementary equipment such as LCDs is provided.  The software packages enable teachers to effectively and quickly assess students skills and then to prescribe appropriate follow-up work.

At Lincoln High School a new position of "Freshmen Advisor" was created. The focus of the job will be to track and assist at­risk ninth graders with academic progress, classroom behavior, homework habits, and social problems. An objective will be to assist freshmen in making a connection to school and a successful future.  Communication with parents will be an integral part of the program.

At Lincoln Middle School a tutor was hired to work with students and assist them with the skills that they are having trouble mastering. Also an afternoon Robotics Program was added as part of the Technology Education Curriculum.
