Requirements--
In order for a student to become a member of the LHS National Honor
Society, the student must first fit the eligibility requirements. Not
only must the student excel in academics, the student must also uphold the
qualities
needed for Leadership, Service, and Character.
Academics:
1. Student must have a
3.0 G.P.A.
2. Student must have
taken a minimum of two
academic prep classes
from the following areas:
-
English
-
Mathematics
-
Science
-
Social Studies
3. A 3.0 Grade Point
average must have been
attained in the academic
college prep classes.
Service:
The student must have
been involved in extra-curricular
activities during high school. Participation in the
performing
arts may be counted. A student may submit non-school
related
activities for this criteria, such as community
service.
Leadership:
Leadership will be
demonstrated by having a recognized
leadership role in the classroom, extra-curricular
activities,
or community activities.
Character:
The student meets
pledges and responsibilities to the school,
teachers, fellow students, or community. He/she demonstrates
honesty, reliability, fairness, and tolerance. He/she
upholds
principles of morality and ethics.
