High School Graduation Requirements for Van Dyke Public Schools (This includes the Michigan Merit Curriculum state requirements.)
English - 4 credits
Mathematics - 4 credits
Science - 3 credits
Social Studies - 3 credits
Health - 1/2 credit
Performing, Visual, or Applied Arts - 1 credit
World Languages - 2 credits of the same language*
Total credits required: 22.5 (17.5 for the MMC, and 5 for electives); Required state testing must be completed to graduate.
*The second World Language credit may be substituted by an additional credit in the arts or CTE, with approval by a counselor. It may also be obtained before reaching high school, allowing for that credit to be obtained elsewhere.
All ninth grade students MUST take a full year of each of the following required courses: English, Mathematics, Science.
