Dear Lincoln Middle School Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and that your children are enjoying their summer. As I settle into my second year as the middle school principal I come with enthusiasm and determination. As we embark on this new academic year, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the importance of parental support and the incredible benefits of participating in extracurricular activities.

First and foremost, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the support and involvement many of you have shown in your child's education thus far. Your active engagement in their learning journey has played a significant role in their achievements and personal growth. As we move forward, I encourage all families to continue this partnership, for it is through our collective efforts that we can create an exceptional educational experience for our students.

One area that holds immense potential for enhancing your child's holistic development is participation in extracurricular activities. These activities, whether athletic, artistic, or academic, offer invaluable opportunities for students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and foster lifelong friendships. By engaging in extracurricular activities, students can broaden their horizons, gain confidence, and discover their hidden talents.

Research consistently demonstrates the positive impact of extracurricular involvement on academic performance. Students who participate in these activities often exhibit improved time management skills, better organizational abilities, and enhanced problem-solving capabilities. Additionally, involvement in extracurriculars has been linked to increased motivation, reduced stress, and higher overall well-being. It serves as a platform for students to discover their strengths, build character, and cultivate a sense of belonging within our school community.

To facilitate greater participation, our school has a range of extracurricular offerings this year. We have introduced exciting clubs, intramural sports, and creative arts programs that cater to diverse interests and talents. Whether your child is passionate about music, robotics,, sports, or community service, there is an avenue for them to explore and thrive.

However, for these opportunities to be fully realized, we rely on the support and encouragement of parents. I kindly ask that you consider the following ways you can contribute:

1. Encourage your child: Talk to your child about their interests, passions, and goals. Help them understand the benefits of extracurricular activities and encourage them to explore different options available at our school.

2. Assist with scheduling: Help your child organize their time effectively to balance academics, extracurricular activities, and personal commitments. Establishing a routine and prioritizing tasks will enable them to make the most of their experiences.

3. Volunteer or offer expertise: Consider volunteering your time or expertise to support extracurricular activities. Whether it's coaching a sports team, mentoring a club, or assisting with events, your involvement can make a significant difference in the success of these programs.

4. Attend events: Show your support by attending performances, matches, competitions, and showcases. Your presence at these events demonstrates your interest and enthusiasm, not only for your child but for all students involved.

I firmly believe that when parents, educators, and students work together, we can create an environment that nurtures the potential of every child. By promoting greater parental support and encouraging our students to participate actively in extracurricular activities, we can inspire them to reach new heights and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our school community. Together, let us strive to make this academic year a memorable and transformative one for our students.

Warmest regards,

Mr. Filiccia
