Dear Parents/Caregivers and Students,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year to all students and families!!! I hope that you are having a wonderful summer!! I am very pleased to welcome back all of our students and their families to our school community and also welcome any new students and families to Lincoln Elementary!
My name is Adam Laur and I am so grateful and honored to be the principal of Lincoln Elementary School! I am a Western Michigan University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, Master's Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. This is my 5th year in VDPS. I am coming from McKinley Elementary, where I served as the building principal there the last two years. This will be my 21st year in education and am excited to serve as the Instructional Leader here at LES, while working with an amazing staff! I look forward to working closely with students, families and staff this year as I learn all about Lincoln!
For those students who are new to the school community, and as a reminder to all other students, the following is a brief list of ways to make sure you are on the path to success each day:
Arrive at school on time. Classes start promptly at 8:21 a.m. Front doors open at 8:10 a.m. daily. Please plan travel accordingly. Do not be late!
Eat breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is offered, free of charge, each school day beginning at 8:24 a.m. Lunch is free for all students, too. Our cafeteria offers nutritious meals each day.
Come prepared. Teachers will provide a list of supplies necessary for each class on the first day of school. A daily folder with all the forms/necessary information will go home on the 1st day as well. All classrooms have laptops for each student to use while in school.
Use of personal electronic devices, such as cell phones, responsibly. Social Media and non-urgent text messages and calls can wait until the end of the school day. Parents – If you need to reach your child at any point during the school day, please call the school at (586)758-8342.
LES Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. I hope that you will be able to attend. Please mark your calendar for our first Parent/Teacher Conferences of the year scheduled for October 9th, 2025 with time TBD. At this event you will have an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers in person or virtually, learn more about the curriculum in which your child is being taught and discuss your child’s progress.
