Van Dyke Public Schools Problem-Solving Process
In Van Dyke Public Schools, we strive to work together as a community to support your children. Connecting home and school is one of the most important factors in increasing productivity and academic achievement for your students. As much as we love hearing from you when things are going well, we know that sometimes you need to let us know your concerns.
Our goal is to solve issues quickly and carefully, with every child’s safety and education in mind. Because of this, we must have a proper channeling of complaints.
For items involving students during school hours, please follow the steps below:
- Contact your child’s teacher directly regarding anything that took place during instructional time. This will provide you with the clearest and quickest form of information. You may contact the teacher via email (Click on the teacher if you are in the Parent Portal.) or by calling the school. Remember that the teacher will not be able to talk during instructional time, but they will be able to call you back within 24 hours if you leave a message.
- If you have not received a resolution at that time, the next step would be to call the building principal or assistant principal. They will be able to assist you, and you will receive a call back within 24 hours if you leave a message.
- After speaking to building administration, if you do not feel your issue has been resolved, please contact the district’s administration building. District administration will continue the investigation by speaking with the building and with you to work on a resolution.
Following this process will save you time and frustration, and will allow all parties to properly investigate what you may bring up during our conversations. We appreciate you as partners in the educational process, and look forward to watching your children grow together.
